Phil Collins

  • Yes, the man that wrote the music for Disney movies "Brother Bear" and "Tarzan"! But believe me there is so much more to this man's music. Way more. Just listen to the incredible drum progression of "In the Air Tonight" or the watch the way your foot irresistibly taps to the beat of "Easy Lover"(I can almost guarantee it will ^-^) . Phil Collins is an amazing drummer, actor, producer & singer, no doubt about it.
Born: January 30, 1950 - Chiswick, London, England
Phil's first interest in music(drums) came at the early age of five that continued up to age 12, when he was given his first real drum set. Throughout childhood he focused on acting and modeling, but later proved to be more interested in music than anything else.
Collin's music career didn't truly begin till 1970 with the band Genesis, which he played drums and back up sang for. He didn't get to fully show the extent of his talents up until 1975 when he was given the position of lead vocalist. He stayed with Genesis till 1996, and left the band to focus on his solo career.
And so began Phil Collins solo career. Definitely a great and successful one if you ask me.

  • 7 Grammy Awards
  • 5 Brit Awards
  • Greatest hits Albums
Unfortunately his "Going Back" album of 2010 was more of a Never Coming back album if anything. His endeavor to revive old Motown songs in a cover album didn't come out as expected. His announcement of retirement over the change in today's music proves things are just so different now. If that is a good or bad thing is entirely up to each individual. As for me, I'm going to miss Collins but hopefully his music will continue to live on in those who appreciated it for what it was.
